Sadie Irvine

Sarah Agnes Estelle (Sadie) Irvine (1885〔Finding aid to the Irvine, Sadie Collection, Student Record, Irvine, Newcomb Archives, Tulane University〕 - 1970) was an American artist and educator. Her work is associated with the Newcomb College pottery school, where she was trained and taught until her retirement in 1952.
== Biography ==
Sadie was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to Agnes Estelle and Robert William Irvine on July 21, 1885. She went to High School at McDonough High School which later became Sophie Wright High School.〔 She attended Newcomb College in 1902 and graduated in 1906.〔 At the time of her graduation the art school did not give degrees. She started receiving a salary for her work in the pottery department beginning Oct. 1, 1920. She was appointed an instructor at Newcomb College on Sept 1, 1942.〔 She retired in 1952
